The irony of adding weights to any slot car is perplexing, needless to say. Since many slot racers highly praise lightweight slot cars, manufacturers have been building slot cars with the primary mantra of making them light.

However, an overly light car provides for lesser downforce. This in turn reduces grip levels of the tires, causing "front-lift" constant de-slots. Adding weights at the right positions on a chassis will greatly improve handling and grip levels.
